Autism Suicide Prevention Training Session 1- Overview
- Develop an understanding of how suicidal thoughts are communicated within the autistic community, taking into account communication differences.
- Examine and dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding suicide in the autistic community.
- Identify high-risk factors for suicide, including the impact of being autistic, and explore mental health and triggers associated with these risks.
- Equip delegates with the knowledge needed to support autistic individuals who experience suicidal thoughts.
- Discuss autism-specific suicide prevention resources that can aid in providing support and intervention.
Autism Suicide Prevention Training Session 2- Reflective Session
- Strategies for reducing the risks of suicide.
- The impact of suicide on others.
- Understanding how suicidal ideation impacts autistic individuals and how best to support them.
- Recognising the warning signs of suicide in autistic individuals.
This training is co-developed and co-delivered with lived experience and consists of three parts. Please read below for further information.
This training is divided into 3 parts.
Part A is a pre-training module that you need to complete before attending Part 1 if you are a professional working with Adults. This can be accessed on this portal via the dashboard under pre-training once you have signed up.
Parts 1 and 2 are online training sessions via Microsoft Teams.
Part 1 is the main delivery of the training and lasts 2.5 hours. Part 2 is a reflective session lasting 2.5 hours which will be approximately 4-8 weeks after part 2. This is the final session and will be a chance to reflect upon your learning outcomes.
Please ensure you book on to the corresponding Part 2 session for each specific cohort.
Dates for Part 1 and Part 2 will be available to book upon registration of your account. These can be accessed via the dashboard, under course bookings.
It is a requirement that delegates complete the pre-training module and attend both sessions of the live online training for the full duration of the sessions (5-hours in total) in order to complete the training in its entirety. A certificate will be issued upon completion.
